Many of the shortcuts that use the Ctrl key on a Windows keyboard also work with the Control key in Office 2016 for Mac. However, not all do. Note: If a shortcut requires pressing two or more keys at the same time, this topic separates the keys with a plus sign (+). F1 = Opens the Help windowpane. F7 = Spellcheck (opens the Editor pane to check spelling and grammar) F12 = Save as (opens the Save As window, so that the document can be saved using a new name or in a new location) Shift + arrow keys = Select multiple letters. These 45 keyboard shortcuts work in the Word program on PCs and Macs, though you'll need to swap out any instance of 'Ctrl' with 'Command' when on a Mac. Visit Business Insider's Tech Reference.
This time, I’m going to look at shortcuts for an app most of us use a daily basis, Microsoft Word.
These shortcuts are for Microsoft Word for Mac 2011, but may work in other versions.
How Do I Use Keystroke Shortcuts?
Keystroke Shortcuts use modifier keys. You already use modifier keys every day. Here’s how…
Tap the “h” key and you get a lower case “h”
Hold the Shift key and tap the “h” key and you get an upper case “H”
The Shift key is a Modifier Key.
All Modifier Keys work this way. That’s it.
Modifier keys on the Mac include: Shift, Control, Option, Command and Function.
These keys are located at the bottom left hand corner of your keyboard and can be seen in the photo above.
